Choosing Love Over Offense, Moment by Moment

I want to share something real with you.

Right before I recorded this most recent episode of The Alita Reynolds Show, I felt hurt by a text message. In that moment, I had a choice. I could respond out of frustration, or I could choose a different response.

Maybe you’ve been there too.

Offense often shows up in the smallest, everyday moments. In fact, so many of the emotions we carry are actually rooted in anger at being offended. If we’re not careful, these destructive emotions can become our default response. Here’s the truth that has been transforming my life: we do not have to live that way.

James 1:20 says, Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

That means even when anger or offense  feels justified, holding onto it does not lead us where we want to go. In fact, Ephesians 4:26 tells us to make sure we get rid of our anger before the sun goes down.

Instead of feeling anger or offense, we have an invitation. To pause. To surrender. To love anyway.

I know that isn’t always easy. Loving people who offend us can feel risky. It can feel like they don’t deserve it. But when we love this way, we begin to look more like Jesus. This is where real freedom begins.

One of the most powerful shifts you can make is this: when you feel offended, choose to pray for that person instead of reacting. This simple choice will change your heart. It will bring peace. And it will keep you aligned with the life God is calling you to live.

If you want to dive a little deeper into this topic, I encourage you to watch the full episode, Freedom from Offense Part 2. We walk through how to put anger and offense behind us in real, everyday life situations.

You are not alone in this journey. And you are more capable than you think of living unoffended, free, and full of love.

I’m wildly cheering you!
