What Were You Expecting?

There is something so powerful that happens when you simply become aware. Think back to a time when a sense of awareness awakened in you, like the piercing of a smoke screen, or a lifting of a veil. Suddenly clarity existed, and the moment of awareness empowered and energized you.

In my latest episode of The Alita Reynolds Show, I’m going to nudge you to become aware of something that might be causing tension in your relationships. So many of the moments where you have felt hurt, distant, or even quietly frustrated in a relationship did not actually begin with what the other person did. Those feelings began because of what you expected the other person to do… without ever communicating your expectation.

In those moments, ask yourself, what was I expecting?

Because here is the truth: If it was never communicated, it was never agreed upon.

This realization alone can bring so much freedom!

Unspoken expectations can quietly build walls in your heart. They can create distance where there was never meant to be distance. And before you know it, you can feel offended, disappointed, or misunderstood, sometimes without even fully knowing why.

You do not have to live this way.

When you choose awareness, you take your power back. You begin to recognize the difference between reality and assumption. Instead of allowing those assumptions to lead you into feeling offended, you can choose something better. You can choose grace.

Colossians 3:13 reminds us to make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends us.

What if the freedom you have been longing for is not found in changing someone else, but in releasing an expectation you never voiced?

I encourage you to lean into this topic more deeply and watch the full episode, Freedom from Offense Part 4. You can live light. You can live free. You can leave all the unnecessary weight of offense behind and carry only grace instead.

I’m wildly cheering you!
