Still Hope - It is a God story!
Friend, I want to personally invite you to go see a film that truly moved me: Still Hope.
Released in theaters February 5th, this film is more than a movie. It is a God story, and it speaks to issues relevant to our world right now. In my recent interview with Kathrine Lee, a collaborative partner with Still Hope, shared the film came to life through an incredible journey of faith.
A producer visited a human trafficking survivor program and witnessed real transformation in the survivors there. When he asked what made the difference, the answer was simple and powerful: forgiveness. Around the same time, a man all the way on the other side of the globe in India had a vision from the Lord. The Lord directed him to write a film about trafficking in America, and the scenes he carried in his heart connected directly with actual scenes that had happened in real life. Only God could bring these two men together to produce this film. Come on, you cannot make this stuff up.
Here is a quick overview of the film: Still Hope follows a teenage girl named Hope whose life changes in a moment, and through deception and “grooming,” the process by which sex traffickers psychologically alter a victim’s perception of what is happening. The film does not hide the darkness of trafficking, but it also does not leave you there. In the second half of the film, beauty unfolds. Characters experience healing, restoration, redemption, and even forgiveness in its proper time. The movie is trauma informed, thoughtfully made, and it opens the door for important conversations with our families without gratuitously dramatizing fear.
One of the biggest takeaways from the film is this: awareness is not enough. Only action makes a difference. When you buy a ticket, your purchase helps create awareness, and you also support organizations that work to fight trafficking and care for survivors. You are choosing to be part of the solution.
So friend, would you go see Still Hope? Bring your spouse, your small group, your teen, or your friends. This could be the moment where your action actually helps to make a change!
