Laying Down the Crown of Striving

Hey there!
I’ve officially resigned from being the Queen of Striving—and the Queen of Burnout, too. For far too long, I wore those crowns proudly, mistaking exhaustion for success and being overwhelmed by obedience. But no more! I’ve exchanged those heavy crowns for a crown of righteousness, and I want to invite you to do the same.
Matthew 11:28–30 changed my life. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” For years, I read that Scripture and skimmed past it. But now? I live it. Jesus invites us into a real rest—not laziness, not quitting—but a sacred rhythm of walking with Him, not ahead of Him.
In this episode of The Alita Reynolds Show, I share how taking a real rest became possible. I invite you to join me as I unpack what this practically looks like in my life and, hopefully, for your life!
I used to think ambition meant charging the hill, proving my worth, and building my dreams. But the truth is that selfish ambition leads to burnout. Godly ambition? That leads to peace, purpose, and joy. It means laying down my agenda and picking up His.
The visual of the oxen yoke helped me understand this. We are the younger ox—following Jesus, the strong and wise leader. When we try to take the lead, the burden grows heavy. But when we stay in step with Him, His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.
I’ve felt that weight physically, tight shoulders, and knots in my neck, all from the pressure I put on myself. But I've also felt it lift through prayer, surrender, and inhaling the Holy Spirit’s peace.
Sisters, we weren’t created to live worn out, stressed out, or burned out. We’re invited to thrive, to live freely, and to be a light in our homes, churches, and communities, not because we strive but because we rest in Jesus.
Let’s lay it down today. Let’s thrive in grace, walk humbly, and live differently.
I’m wildly cheering you,
Alita
