Joy is So Much More Than Happiness

Hey Friends!
Can I remind you today that joy is not the same as happiness? Happiness comes and goes with our circumstances, but true joy, lasting joy, comes only from Jesus.
In John 15:11, Jesus tells us, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full.” What a beautiful promise! His joy, not our own, is what fills us and makes us complete.
In the latest episode of The Alita Reynolds Show on Women of Faith, “3 Steps to Finding True Joy,” I share how we can live in that fullness of joy. These steps are simple, but they require surrender and intentionality:
- Abide in Him. To abide means to remain, to live at one with Jesus. This is a process, a daily choosing to stay connected to Him.
- Allow the Father to prune us. Pruning isn’t easy. It means removing and cutting away what holds us back from bearing fruit. But pruning is essential if we want His spirit to flow through us.
- Obey. Joy is found in doing what the Father has asked of us. Jesus’ joy came through surrender and sacrifice, and when we obey Him, that same joy becomes ours.
It’s easy to let the noise of life, the stress of our circumstances, or the cares of this world choke out the Word.
True joy doesn’t depend on what’s happening around us. It comes from knowing whom we belong to and the fruit He produces in us.
So let me ask you: have you allowed Jesus Christ to introduce you to His joy? Are you living a life of surrender and obedience, bearing fruit that shows His love to those around you?
I encourage you to watch or listen to the full episode, “3 Steps to Finding True Joy.” Let’s walk this out together as women who abide, who allow God to prune, and who live in obedience, so that His joy may be full in us.
I’m wildly cheering you,
Alita
