How to Unlock Joy Through Gratitude

Hey sweet friends!
I want to take a moment today to encourage you with something that will transform your walk with the Lord: living in gratitude. Gratitude is not just a fleeting feeling, it’s a way of life that unlocks joy and peace, creating an opportunity for deeper connection with God and others.
There are three characteristics of gratitude I want you to consider.
First, gratitude is a choice. Each day we decide whether to dwell on what we lack or on the blessings we’ve been given. Jesus came to bring us abundance, (John 10:10) and when we choose to focus on that truth, our lives feel full.
Second, gratitude is a feeling. If you choose to lean into your emotions, choose to feel gratitude. The simple act of opening your heart to joy and appreciation can shift your entire perspective and those feelings are inspired by a tangible gift, or a simple act of kindness.
Third, gratitude is a capacity. This means we get to practice gratitude daily in our relationships and circumstances. Our capacity to live with a spirit of gratitude can grow! It’s about seeing what’s right instead of what’s wrong, and expressing appreciation consistently through our thoughts, words, and actions.
I’ve seen how even small expressions of gratitude can create lasting impact. People are hungry to know that what they give matters.
Scripture reminds us, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16).
Living this way doesn’t mean we ignore difficulties; it means we give more attention to blessings than to hardships.
Cultivating these three approaches to living with gratitude results in an overflow of joy, a joy that is visible to others and can point them to Christ. I invite you to make a commitment to live with gratitude and joy today. Let’s overflow with thanksgiving, gratitude, and encouragement.
