What if one single word could anchor your focus all year?
Here is how to choose your Word for 2026 in a way that feels simple and Spirit led.
Start with a brain dump list.
Just write every word that comes to mind, even if it feels random.
Then do not rush the decision.
Take a couple weeks if you need to.
Each day, glance at your list and ask, Lord, what are You inviting me into this year?
Watch what keeps rising to the top.
Cross off the ones that do not fit. Circle the ones that feel alive. Star the ones that keep tugging on your heart. Next, journal why you are drawn to your top three words. Do not overthink it. Just be honest. Then look up the definition of each word and let it expand your understanding. Sometimes the definition is the nudge you needed to see what God is really saying. Now bring scripture into it. Psalm 37:23 reminds us, the Lord directs the steps of the Godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. He cares about the details of you, including what you are focusing on this year. Finally, write your word where you can see it. Habakkuk 2:2 says, write my answer plainly on tablets so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. When you write it down, you will notice God’s hand more clearly as the year unfolds.
